I have soo many random backrounds its not even funny,
I am:
english - grandpa
irish - grandpa
scotish - grandpa
walsh - grandma
spanish - grandma
canadian - born there
st.vincent (island in the caribbean.) - dad
I have many different backgrounds, but the biggest three are Irish, German, and Canadian. I also have a little bit of English in me from my grandmothers side. I'd rather not go into all of my families background or who's background is who's.
And honestly, your 'background' is where you are born, and no where else, unless you've got a strong connection to that place.
If your three grandpas, two grandmas and dad live in those places, or have come from those places (I.E. brought up), or if you've lived in a place for a period of time, I get your drift.
If not, then you have no point, and are merely using a vast ancestry that every person has, to try and make yourself seemed more cultured than you probably are.

Background usually refers to the places where your family came from. I'm Canadian, but there is no one who is just purely Canadian (except for the Natives). We all originated from somewhere else. Sure, we probably don't practise those same cultures or live they way they do in those places of origin, but, you can't deny it's where we came from.
These things usually affect your genes, as well. There are tons of Black people living in North America & it is politically correct to refer to someone of African decent as "African-American" or "African-Canadian", even though their family may have been here since the Atlantic Slave Trade started in the 1500s.
Everyone views their background differently. Some people, like you, don't really consider it as anything important in their life whereas others may use it as a way to define themselves. Personally, I am proud of where I came from but I recognise that I am very much a North American & I don't really celebrate those cultures.
I'm sorry I got off on a rant there, but I just hate it when people get so close-minded about stuff. You can't really tell people that their family history doesn't matter because they didn't grow up there. It can apply to you & you can have that opinion, by all means, but you need to respect how other people feel about it.

my family is French. There are some small traces of other people in it but not enough to really mention. My French ancestors moved to Canada before we came to the US
