Cain and Abel.

Honestly how did we come around? I don't get it. So we have the World > Then Adam > Then he give up the rib > Then Eve > Then they have Cain, then Abel. Then Cain killed Abel. God kicks Cain out of the Garden and he heads out to a city! How are their other people? Am I just taking this way to literally? Are Adam and Eve just symbols just like the rest of the bible?

I'd have to read Genesis, but I'm pretty sure Eve had over a hundred offspring and after a quick google search, apparently Gen. 1:26-5:5 has the answer:

How many times Adam knows Eve after that, or how many more wives Adam knows, is unknown, but he begets "sons and daughters" for eight hundred more years. (Gen. 1:26-5:5)

Back in the genesis days, people lived to be way older then they do now. So could have many more kids.

That is a good site Nico, it talks about what ISN'T in the Bible so it makes you think more. I ask this question to alot of people and my brother says he interprets it that Adam and Eve are just symbols for other many men and women and that there were more then just the created by god.
