Post subject: December 21st 2012

Okay so, for those of you that don't know, December 21st 2012 is supposed to be the day 'the world ends', according to some people.

It's a big astronomical event, the end of the mayan calendar, apparently the Maya's were very intelligent people. Watchers of the sky according to the link below, which I am still reading through.

Do you think anything out of the ordinary will happen on this day?

http://www.levity.com/eschaton/Why2012.html is a link that I've found doing a quick search on google, which goes in depth as to why 2012 was the 'chosen' year, and what's supposed to happen. If you want to know more, just run a search on google: 'Mayan Calendar', or the end of it, or whatever. Bunch of links on there that go into great detail about this day.

I don't really understand much of it, I just know from talks with someone that is obsessed with this date, that the world is supposidly going to end on this day heh.

Yeah, Ive heard about that on the Gamefaqs Paranormal/Conspiracy board. A topic like this would be good for a forum like that if we had one eh? Yeah, ironicly, I am writing a story involving that.

I haven't read that thing but what exactly is supposed to happen to make our world end. I don't think it will ... people thought tons of stuff was going to happen on Y2K but that didn't happen.

Yeah but Y2K had to do with computers, this has to deal with the end of the Mayans Calender. They created the calender thousands of years ago.

Whoah, I just realized something. My Community Club subscription ends December 21st... spooky.

Yeah - at my school someone took a crayon and wrote "2012" on the walls of about 4 classrooms, and on the out-of-bounds historical Spiral Staircase. xD

But it all depends on whether you believe in that kind of thing or not, I guess

Y2K had to do with computer yes, which in my opinion are much more sophisticated than a calander made thoudands of years ago. Maybe the guy who was in charge died and nobody else could figure it out.

Thats the complexity of this all. Is that nobody knows why they stopped the calender that day. For all we know they ran out of room carving on a rock.

I don't believe in that stuff like how the hell would they know when the end of the world is going to happen? It's just God's decision, right?

The Mayans were a religous group. Also remember, that not everyone beleives in the same Religion or God. Some don't beleive at all, so ironicly, Religion shouldnt be taken into this debate.

Hence the word: legally [Very Happy]

I watched Survivor for once in a long time, and they were discussing Mayan Legends. I was hoping for them to bring this up, but to no avail.
