I'm reading The Golden Compass. I saw the movie & everyone who had read the book said they changed things & left a lot out. I'm only about 100 pages in & I can already see differences between the book & movie.
Yes, there are many differences and they exclude the last three chapters which they will probably show in the next movie. You shouldn't just stop at The Golden Compass, though. You should also read "The Subtle Knife" and "The Amber Spyglass" to complete the trilogy.
I haven't read anything new in a while, although I enjoy fantasy novels. If you have any suggestions for me, please do give them.
I'm not the biggest reader but recently I've been reading the book called "The cather in the rye" by J. D. Salinger. I've only got upto about the 4th chapter it's been a pretty intresting opening though !
Has anyone else read this book, When I went to rent it from the libary it was in the banned section and was wondering why? If anyone possibly knows this.

Amazing book!
I've only read ten chapters of it myself, but the material in it and the plot line, it's starting to become my favourite book.
Anyways to answer your question it's in the banned section because a lot of people are against some of the obscene topics that are briefly discussed in the book, the slang that is used, and many other things. You can read more about it over here though.
Also, I'm in between reading seven different books. lol. Don't be alarmed, some of them I'm only a couple pages away from finishing and others I'm only five or so pages in. The most current book that I'm reading is The Revealer's which is about this three kids named Elliot, Caitlin, and Russell that beat the bullies at their school over the internet. It's pretty entertaining.
The movie sucked in comparison to the book. The Da Vinvi Code is a pretty good read, but don't believe every word of what Dan Brown says. I've read three of his books, The Da Vinci Code being one of them, & he's pretty good at putting information into a story line.
Currently i am reading "The Ear, The Eye and The Arm"
Its a great thriller set in Zimbabwe in the year 2194. A government official’s over-protected children go on an adventure and end up deeper than they thought. When they disappear, their parents hire a misfit detective agency (the ear, the eye and the arm) that always seems to be about half a step behind the kids. This is an interesting look at a potential future where plastic is a highly-prized commodity, but old spirits still do battle. It’s a very exciting book, but at some points, I started to get tired of all the scrapes the kids got into. However, the end was worth every minute.
I'm reading Kathleen Turner's Autobiography - Send Your Roses at the moment. I hate it being a hardback. Bloody hard to hold up when your tired in bed apart from that it's really good. A wee chuckle here and there
