There is a very interesting little piece of technology out there that I think is pretty awesome. Electronic cigarettes!
Essentially it is exactly like a cigarette in the way it looks, and works, and tastes, just without the tobacco. You can even inhale and exhale the vapor exactly like a typical cigarette. It uses a tobacco flavored liquid (there are other crazy flavors you can smoke too if you prefer like strawberry, vanilla, banana[wtf?], etc.) and you can choose the strength of nicotine as well from mild, medium, to high. You can also smoke a nicotine free cigarette. Crazy.
Apparently there isn't much of a risk of cancer since there are none of the dangerous chemicals found in traditional cigarettes other than nicotine. No second-hand smoke so you can smoke anywhere you like including shopping malls and restaurants.
It's waaay cheaper than the over-taxed counterpart available at the gas station, and apparently smokers enjoy it just as much as a regular cigarettes. That is huge.
Cheap, same enjoyment as from regular cigarettes, healthier, no second-hand smoke, variety of flavours and strengths, environmentally friendly.... I think the tobacco industry has finally got some good competition! I think this is a reasonable alternative for cigarette smokers and I wouldn't hold back on encouraging the use of these.
Btw, there is also a disposable electronic cigar available as well. Very interesting peace of technology I must say.
