Post subject: BC Teacher Strike

Currenly in BC there is a teacher strike and I was just wondering what everyone opinions on this issue are. The strike started on Oct.7 and the BCTF was told that it was illegal for them to go on strike. I agree with some of the reasons that they are on strike but I am now starting to get annoyed because I have missed almost two weeks worth of classes and I am worried about catching up. What are you opinions on the illegal actions of the teachers.

Well, considering I havn't been to school in two weeks Im lovin' it. But I'm dreading the day I go back. But I do agree with what the teachers are doing (wanting a pay increase (Because thier pay sucks) and smaller class size(because there are over 50 students in some classes))

I am also really afraid to go back to class because we will have a lot of work to catch up on. I am not really enjoying the strike because I find that there is not much for me to do.

I'm not in BC, but I agree with the teachers too.

I am glad that the strike is over. I agreed with quite a few of the reasons that the teachers went on trike but I just wish that there had been a different way for all of that to have gone down. I missed two weeks of school and it is really stressing me out. Losing two weeks of school time is making it so that a lot of subjects are being really cramped to make up for the time. At least my math class should be up to speed again so I will be happy. I just hope that I have enough time to to catch up and still get good grades. I am really happy that after two weeks the strike is finally over.

It's over? Thats good. But, do you guys have to do like an extra two weeks at the end of the year? That happened to my friend( I live in another part of Canada ) once. ( That was public school though, don't know if you're in Catholic or Public )

THe strike ended about two weeks ago and as far as I know we will not have to make up anytime in the summer. We are just going to be doing a lot of catch up so it will be hard until we are caught up or the next semester starts.

Off Topic: Do you know of any sites on the web I could find about living in Vancouver? I want to see what it is like to live there.

Yeah it is. I just got off from looking up a couple things, mainly Apartments in Vancouver, and Business Universities in BC and Ontario.
