Want to get high without the ill effects of nicotine? Try herbal cigarette. The National Botanical Research Institute (NBRI) is in advanced stages of developing a 'customised designer herbal cigarette', which would not just help nicotine addicts puff off the habit but offer various health-enhancing benefits.
The institute last week signed a Rs 65 lakh deal with tobacco company Godfrey Phillips for manufacturing these herbal cigarettes and the first installment of Rs 16 lakh had already been paid, NBRI sources said. . . .
Besides helping addicts leave the habit of smoking, these herbal cigarettes promise to uplift mood, reduce stress and fatigue, rev up the thinking process and even help in slimming, the sources claimed. They would have no element of tobacco and nicotine and indeed carry the good for health message, they said.
The sources refused to elaborate further on the content of these cigarettes as any additional information leak may lead to hijacking of patent rights in the world of cut-throat competition.

Hmm interesting...I dunno I can see that turning into something that people will find habit forming then give it 5 years down the road and they will come up with a huge list of ill side affects.

It's a good idea in theory - but it's a bit like diet soda. People only see the good side, without thinking of all the side effects involved. Then they end up paying for it in a few years y being addicted to the things, and getting called hippies by everyone else
Plus those things will probably be really expensive too
Cigarette alternatives are just as bad as ones with nicotine. Clove cigarettes, deliver twice as much nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide as regular cigarettes. I really wanted to try clove cigarettes before reading that, because they smell really good, lol.
I got this from some website:
"Herbal Gold cigarettes contain a blend of herbs including marshmallow (the plant, not the hot chocolate topping), passion flower, jasmine, and ginseng. These herbs are staples of health-food stores, and they're generally safe -- until they're set on fire.
According to a recent report by the Federal Trade Commission, Herbal Gold and other herbal cigarettes produce many of the same toxins found in tobacco smoke, including tar and carbon monoxide. "
