Should I add a profile field where you can select your sexual orientation which will be displayed in your public profile and posts?

It'd be slighty pointless, I guess, but it'll harm none. Plus, it'll mean people won't respond to someone and accidentally be disparaging towards them.

I don't really see the point, as mentioned above its not a dating site and I worry that it could lead to abuse from some because of there orientation. I don't think our current members would be like but with the site being promoted ya never know what kind of people we could end up with. There are many hateful people in this world.

Im not concerned with abuse of members due to their sexual orientation, since any abuse can be reported and dealt with by staff. Plus with so many staff now, im pretty sure something would be done almost immediately. I think it doesnt need to be announced, but it is something I think we should have, maybe not in the post but the profile at least. This may not be a dating site technically, but I think you will find as a "young adult" oriented site that we could see potential matches made with this information available. I think its a good idea to avoid confusion there as well, where a guy could be hitting on a girl that has NO return interest due to sexuality and it may never be known if it isnt selected by this option.

Instead of choosing your sexual orientation we should just be able to select which gender(s) we are interested in, like on Facebook. But in that case, don't show it in posts, only in your profile.
