Post subject: Academic or World?

In your opinion which form of education do you believe will have the most impact long term in the world. What you learn in school (academic) or what you learn from experiencing the world for yourself (world) Which do you believe to be more beneficial or do you think they balance each out?

I think you can learn quite a bit from school if you find the perfect setting - but these days it all seems to be all a little too 'forced' in my opinion.

You can learn much better from working in the real world and learning by doing.

To down size the forced feeling do you think students should have more say in what it is they are learning? If so what do you believe ideally would be the most beneficial cirriculum for you personally?

Well I personaly think home schooling is the best option, you and your family have almost complete control on how you will go through your education and in the end it's extremely beneficial since your going through it in your unique style.

I've gone the traditional route with school and I've also done it online with ADLC and Life Long Learning (Catholic School Board) and I personally think that I did the best when I was at home doing it on my own terms.

Anyone else have an opinion?

I homeschool too [Very Happy] way easier & less hassle & stress. I think it's sorta balanced out. You learn a lot from life experiences, but I find stuff I learn from school sometimes helps with world experiences

Same with me, I am currently doing online school along with the traditional environment and this seems to be going really good for me.

I've experimented with online school [for foreign languages] and it doesn't suit me at all. My school has a really good social and academic enviroment so I'm perfectly happy where I am right now [Smile]
